Lead Replacement Projects
Under the Homeowner-Initiated LSLR project, the property owner may replace the service that goes from their home to the valve in the parkway (parkway valve). This is referred to as the private side replacement. Once this work is completed, the City will replace the lead portion of service from the parkway to the water main (public side) at no expense to the property owner.

Annual LSLR Project
The Annual Lead Service Line Replacement (LSLR) Project focuses on replacing lead service lines in areas eligible for funding through the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency’s (IEPA) State Revolving Fund (SRF) Program. There is no cost to homes that have an existing lead service line and are eligible to participate
Annual Water Main Improvement Project (LSLR)
As part of the Annual Water Main Project, the City of Evanston is offering a full lead service line replacement at no cost to the homeowner if there is an existing lead service line and if a homeowner lives in a building that is directly impacted by the Project.
Homeowner Initiated LSLR
Under the Homeowner Initiated LSLR, homeowners may replace the private side portion of their lead service line (from the house to the shutoff valve in the parkway). The City coordinates with your private plumber to replace both the private and public side portions at the same time. A new service line from the water main to the b-box is installed by the City at no cost to the homeowner.
